12-mile Traffic Jam After Dump Truck Overturns and Spills Gravel on I-75 in Florida

VENICE, Fla.(DDN) – This morning, a large multi-vehicle incident involving a dump truck on its side blocked one lane of I-75 northbound.

The accident occurred between the Venice Connector and Clark Road. There is at least one vehicle in the woods next to the dump truck.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the semi-truck changed lanes from the middle lane of northbound I-75 into the path of another vehicle, collided with it, and then veered back into the path of a different vehicle.

The truck tipped over and dumped its load of gravel onto the road.

Crews are now on the site attempting to clear the incident and clean up debris from the freeway.

Traffic is delayed for more than an hour and there is a 12-mile congestion.
