Residents of Butler City were subjected to a flurry of police activity earlier this morning as Pennsylvania State Police and other law enforcement agencies executed search warrants related to drugs. Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for the area of North Chestnut and Locust streets shortly after 7 a.m., and it was removed approximately half an hour later. At the end of the operation, 14 people were arrested, according to WPXI.
The shelter-in-place order was issued as a precaution to safeguard community safety, but the details of how the searches were carried out have not been made public. WPXI was informed by Trooper Bertha Cazy that the goal of the procedure was “to be safe while we get in and get out as fast as possible.” Residents may have mistook the deployment of flashbangs and explosive breaches to evacuate people from the houses during the operation for gunfire. One local neighbor, Richard McClelland, voiced his concern and told his family, “None of the kids are to leave the house, period.”
Along with the Attorney General’s office, the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Butler County Drug Task Force were among the agencies that participated in the operation. However, details about the specific charges are still unknown despite the fact that the people are in arrest. According to Butler Radio, the police have not disclosed the address of the house or houses that were the focus of the search.
The charges against the 14 people who were arrested have not been confirmed by the authorities. As the inquiry progresses, updates are anticipated.
