15-year-old Arrested after Wild Police Chase in Ventura; Tried to Hide in River to Evade Cops

VENTURA, Cali. (DDN) – A 15-year-old motorcyclist led Ventura police on a chase Saturday evening before attempting to hide in a small river gorge, authorities said.

According to the Ventura Police Department, the incident began at 7:36 p.m. when an officer observed the teen commit a traffic violation near Johnson Drive and Telephone Road. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the boy fled on a Talaria Sting electric motorcycle, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, the teen attempted to evade police by entering the Brown Barranca, a narrow river gorge south of Telephone Road. Additional officers arrived and set up a perimeter to contain him.

The officer leading the pursuit was also a trained drone operator and launched a drone to locate the suspect. Within minutes, officers were guided to the teen’s location and took him into custody.

Police identified the suspect only as a 15-year-old male from Ventura due to his age. He was cited for reckless evading, a felony, and for being an unlicensed driver, an infraction. However, officials noted that he was not eligible to be booked into Juvenile Hall. Instead, he was released to his parents, and his motorcycle was impounded.
