A 16-year-old boy was badly injured when gunfire entered an SUV on Interstate 55, causing tragedy. The incident happened close to the interstate construction zone, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The victim’s father was the motorist who alerted the police as he hurried to get assistance, arriving at 4th and Walnut where emergency personnel could meet him.

The crime scene was discovered by authorities near Loughborough on the southbound lanes. As he drove to help, the father informed dispatchers that his son was critically injured and in urgent need of medical care. EMS treated the young child as soon as they arrived and then sent him to the nearby hospital, where he is now in critical condition.
