17-year-old Died in Car Crash in Midvale; Veered Car and Lost Control Hitting Parked SUV Police

MIDVALE, Ut. (DDN) – A 17-year-old was murdered in an automobile collision near 7200 South 800 East on Saturday, Midvale Mayor Dustin Gettel announced on Facebook. A passenger was also left in critical condition.

The mayor stated that the 17-year-old was a student at Hillcrest High School.

The Unified Police Department reported that the accident occurred at 12:48 p.m. According to the agency, an SUV collided with a parked semi-truck while westbound on Fort Union Boulevard. Police reported that the driver was murdered, and a 19-year-old passenger was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

“The Unified Police Department extends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time,” the police department said.

According to police, the driver swerved to avoid another vehicle but lost control in rainy circumstances and collided with the back of the semi.

The occupants’ identities were not immediately shared.
