In the Channelview region, an 18-year-old male died in a collision that happened while he was probably trying to race another car. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez was the first to post about this incident on social media this morning at 5:08 a.m. The collision occurred on North Silver Green Drive, inside the boundaries of the Sterling Green community, according to KHOU.
After hitting a curb, the young man reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into the front yard of a house. The driver’s 20-year-old sister was also in the vehicle, but thankfully was not hurt in the collision, the sheriff said. According to information later provided by the sheriff’s office, the cars did not collide, and the driver of the other car in the possible race decided to flee the area right away.
After being taken to a nearby hospital, the 18-year-old was declared dead. At this point, neither the deceased’s nor his sister’s identities have been made public. Although specifics of the inquiry have not been made public, it is likely that efforts are in progress to find and identify the driver of the second vehicle.
According to a statement that Sheriff Ed Gonzalez shared on X, “The driver, an 18-year-old man, was traveling in the front seat with his 20-year-old sister. lost control and collided with a curb, causing their car to flip over and land in a house’s front yard.”
