18-year-old Man Crashes Into Tree Near Sunlite Bar and Grill, Arrested for Vehicular Operation

DETROIT LAKES, MINN (DDN) – On the evening of Saturday, January 18, at about 7:34 p.m., the Becker County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Sunlite Bar and Grill after two individuals entered the establishment and stated that they had been involved in a collision and received injuries that appeared to be serious.

The first inquiry, as reported by the sheriff’s office, concluded that Ronald Wright, who was 18 years old at the time, was driving on County Highway 21 when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree, preventing it from impacting the south side of Sunlite Bar and Grill.

Even though alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors in the accident, the sheriff’s office reports that both Wright and the passenger, a female who was 15 years old, are thought to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Both Wright and the passenger were driven to nearby hospitals for treatment. Following his discharge from the hospital, Wright was taken into custody for the crime of criminal vehicular operation and transferred to the Becker County Jail for further processing.

The collision is still being looked at by authorities.
