The U.S. Marshals Service stated that an 18-year-old guy who was wanted for a homicide in Memphis had been taken into custody in Atlanta. Demetrio Ceballos, the suspect, was taken into custody without incident on Monday and is currently awaiting extradition to Shelby County, where he will be charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault.Ceballos is allegedly responsible for the shooting death of Rozelle White, which took place on March 25 near Whitehaven on the 4400 block of Millbranch Road, according to FOX13 Memphis.
The Memphis Police initially reported the incident, which was occurring in a convenience shop. Later, on September 27, a search warrant was obtained for his arrest. After an investigation that led the MPD Fugitive Apprehension Team to think Ceballos was in Atlanta, WREG reported that the U.S. Marshals Task Force had brought him into custody.
Their Georgia counterparts helped apprehend Ceballos by cooperating with the Memphis-based U.S. Marshals Service task team, the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task team. According to a statement that Action News 5 was able to receive, the task forces worked together to get the arrest.
The cross-jurisdictional cooperation required to capture those suspected of committing major crimes is brought to light by the joint task force operation. For the community impacted by the March tragedy, Ceballos’ current waiting period for the judicial processes is a significant step. A date for Ceballos’ return to Memphis has not yet been disclosed by authorities, as the extradition process is still in progress.
