BEAVER DAM, Wis. (DDN) – A young driver from Dodge County is now in custody following a police pursuit that ended with a crash involving multiple vehicles.
An 18-year-old from Horicon, Devon Hambly, has been taken into custody and is confronting multiple charges. These include driving under the influence, lacking a valid driver’s license, using a vehicle without permission, fleeing from law enforcement, and resisting or obstructing an officer.
At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities were alerted to a driver exhibiting erratic behavior in Dodge County. A report was made regarding a vehicle that had veered onto the front lawn of a residence in Horicon and repeatedly swerved into oncoming traffic while making its way between Horicon and Beaver Dam.
A law enforcement officer tried to pull over Hambly’s car on State Highway 33, near Beaver Dam. Authorities report that Hambly “quickly sped up” in a bid to escape from police.

During the chase, he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash into a utility power box, several signs, and then multiple cars in the McDonald’s parking lot on Park Avenue.
Officials extracted Hambly from the car, and he “remained uncooperative.” He was taken into custody and brought to Marshfield Medical Center-Beaver Dam for care of injuries that are not life-threatening before being processed into jail.
