18-year-old Woman Killed, Minivan Driver Airlifted After Tragic Head-on Crash in Cape Girardeau County

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (DDN) – On Tuesday evening, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal accident in Cape Girardeau County.

Sgt. Clark Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was the first to report that there had been a two-vehicle collision on Route B, resulting in one fatality.

The official crash report was published at a later time.

The report states that the troopers arrived at the scene at approximately 5:15 p.m. on January 21. A woman from Patton, who is 18 years old, was driving a passenger car southbound when she crossed the center line and collided with a minivan that was heading at her.

The woman died on the spot. According to MSHP, she was not wearing a seat belt.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported that the driver of the minivan, a 58-year-old male from Oak Ridge, sustained critical injuries and was transported by air to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

The MSHP Troop E region has experienced its fourth fatal accident of 2025.
