19-Year-Old Charged with Murder of Pregnant Girlfriend, Newborn in Critical Condition

A tragic series of events unfolded in Lansdowne, where a 19-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder following the fatal shooting of his pregnant girlfriend. The young woman, who was eight months into her pregnancy, died at the scene. Despite the dire circumstances, medical personnel were able to deliver the baby, who remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

According to the Lansdowne Police Department and statements obtained byFOX 29, Kaiheem Jerelle Williams was arrested and charged on Friday, following the discovery of gunshots at an apartment complex on Thursday night. Williams and the victim, who lived together, were in a relationship. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the victim’s family and child, with the victim identified only by her first name, Tanyiah, who was killed two days after her 19th birthday.

Chief Ken Rutherford expressed his appreciation for the investigative team’s efforts: “The arrest of Kaiheem Williams is a testament to the relentless determination of our officers and the CID Detectives,” he said, as reported byCBS News Philadelphia. “Their hard work has brought us one step closer to justice for the victim and her family.” The Lansdowne Police and the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office have been working jointly on the investigation.

Details leading up to the shooting have not been released, and officials have not provided an update on the baby’s condition since the arrest was announced, as noted byNBC Philadelphia. The shooting took place at around 7:30 p.m. on the 200 block of N. Wycombe Ave.
