Last month, there was more police action on the streets of Wilmington, and one of the suspects in a case of gunfire without injuries was arrested. The Wilmington Police Department was called to the 2400 block of North Market Street at 5:55 p.m. on Halloween night to a report of shots fired. The department’s Gun Intelligence Unit led the investigation and finally found 19-year-old Kyon Harvey to be the main suspect. After getting the necessary arrest warrants, police conducted a traffic stop on November 10 in the 3100 block of North Market Street. Harvey, who was a passenger in the vehicle, attempted to resist arrest and was briefly able to escape before being caught. During the arrest, a loaded.40 caliber handgun was recovered by the police.
Harvey is now being charged with many things, including four counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited and Reckless Endangering First Degree, as well as separate counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, Discharging a Firearm on a City Street, Second Degree Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief Under $1,000. The Nixle report says that he was tried and is now being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $146,200 cash-only bail.
