2-Year-Old Fatally Injured in Vehicle Crash on Tidwell Road in Houston, Teen Driver Unhurt

Yesterday, an unexpected collision on Houston’s Tidwell Road led to a tragedy. The Houston Police Department (HPD) reported that at approximately 6:05 p.m., a car carrying a two-year-old boy crashed at the 9200 block of Tidwell Road, killing the boy.

The 15-year-old driver of the white Honda Pilot carried the child passenger, whose identity has not yet been made public pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. In a recent HPD Vehicular Crimes Division release, Sergeant F. Briones and Officer T. La described how the teen driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and into a ditch where it struck debris. “The Honda then struck debris in the ditch and came to a stop,” the HPD said. According to reports, the child was not buckled up in a child seat when the crash occurred.

After paramedics from the Houston Fire Department arrived on the scene, the kid was taken to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, where it was later declared dead. The adolescent motorist was transported to a local hospital for treatment after suffering minor injuries. According to authorities, the motorist was not intoxicated at the time of the event.

The investigation into the accident’s circumstances is still underway, and no charges have been brought as of yet.
