TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (DDN) – After being arrested and charged with OWI Causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death in connection with a single-vehicle accident that occurred at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) early on Saturday morning, a 22-year-old is currently in custody without release.
Lt. Justin Sears of the Terre Haute Police Department (THPD) said that at around 1:45 a.m., THPD was called to the RHIT campus at the 5500 block of Wabash Ave. in connection to an accident involving a single car that resulted in injuries.
Near the west side of campus, authorities found a car that had strayed from the road. There were other people in the car. The car was seriously damaged as well, and all of the airbags were in place.
Landry D. Kimery was identified as the vehicle’s driver. It was discovered that the 22-year-old had a blood alcohol content of.23.
Landry D. Kimery has been arrested and charged with the following offenses and is being held at the Vigo County Jail without bond:
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Serious Bodily Injury or Death
- Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated – Endangerment
- Operating a Vehicle with an ACE of .15 or More
One passenger suffered injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital before being lifelined to a hospital in the Indianapolis region for more care.
Because of how serious the incident was, the Fatal Accident Reconstruction Team was also sent to the scene to help with the investigation.
At this point, the investigation is still underway.
