23-year-old Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting of 13-year-old Johvon Taylor in Florida City

FLORIDA CITY, FLA.(DDN)Police have detained a guy in connection with the shooting death of a 13-year-old child in Florida City.

Tyler Kingsley Manyou, 23, was arrested in Pembroke Pines on Jan. 7 on an out-of-county warrant and then extradited to Miami-Dade County, where he is being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to jail records.

“One count of second-degree murder,” Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer stated. “We’ll hold you with no bond.”

Kingsley is charged with second-degree murder in the Jan. 5 death of Johvon Taylor, who was shot outside a home, according to police.

According to detectives, a group of teenagers was outside a home on Northwest Sixth Avenue, near 13th Street, when a gunman arrived and began fire on them. Another child was shot, but has since been released from the hospital and is believed to be fine.

Taylor’s killing sparked outrage in the town, and residents held a memorial last week to urge for a stop to gun violence.

“Woodah cannot be replaced. “There will never be another Woodah,” said Taylor’s aunt, Jakilah Brady.

Taylor’s relatives characterized the kid, nicknamed Woodah, as a pleasant and enthusiastic child who aspired to be a basketball star. “I just miss him.” “The energy, vibes, and laughs,” Brady added.

The family stated that they did not know who Manyou was and had never heard of him.

“For him to come down here and commit such a senseless crime to somebody who it wasn’t meant for was just so cowardly,” claimed Brady.

Now they want to see justice served.

“I just want justice to fully be served, and everybody who was involved in this needs to be held accountable for this because, once again, Woodah did not deserve that,” Brady told the media.

The family begs the public to come forward with any fresh information regarding the shooting.

Authorities have not provided any additional information regarding what led to the shooting or how Manyou was identified as a suspect.
