According to law enforcement officials, a 25-year-old man was shot in the back outside a Bronx apartment building on Sunday, bringing his life to an abrupt end. Around 10:35 p.m. on Saturday, a shooting broke out on E. 233rd St. close to White Plains Road in the Wakefield neighborhood. The man had a life-threatening wound when authorities arrived on the scene, and he was rushed right away to Jacobi Medical Center. Unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal, and his identity has not yet been made public, according to the NY Daily News.

The gunshots came after a dispute between two guys, according to a different story by AMNY that sheds light on the circumstances leading up to the incident. The suspect left the area on foot while wearing a black jacket, gray sweatshirt, gray slacks, and white sneakers. The police are aggressively looking for information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts and have not made any arrests.

While the number of murders in the 47th Precinct has decreased from ten to six in the previous year, the Bronx has seen a rise in gun violence. According to NYPD data, the number of shooting victims increased by 11% from 345 in 2023 to 383 this year.

Police encourage anyone with information to call or visit Crime Stoppers online as they continue their search for the shooter. The public is reassured by authorities that all tips will remain private.
