The accident involved a 2012 Harley-Davidson FLHXI “Street Glide” and occurred west of the North Tonopah Drive intersection. The 51-year-old male rider, traveling at high speed, attempted to overtake other motorcyclists by moving into the center turn lane. Despite efforts to save him, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital. His death brings the total traffic-related fatalities in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction to 138 for the year.

The LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section is looking into the cause of the crash, with speed believed to be a major factor. The motorcyclist’s identity has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. A final report with more details will be released after the investigation is complete.
