$5,500 reward for tips in man’s slaying in east Detroit
Crime Stoppers of Michigan announced Thursday a reward of $ 5,500 for information leading to an arrest in a fatal shootout on the east side of Detroit.
Martez Langford Jr. had been at his father’s house before walking near Gray and Mack when he was hit by gunfire on late February 22, the group said in a statement.
Detroit police reported that the 19-year-old was found unresponsive by Gray at about 8:20 p.m. on the 3500 block and pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital.
“He was without ID, which made it difficult for the authorities to find the family until two days later,” Crime Stoppers said on Thursday.
Langford, a red belt in karate also known as “TJ,” had studied welding at the Golightly Career Tech Center in Detroit and was reportedly in a new job at Modular Automotive Systems in Highland Park for three months.
