78-year-old Woman Dies in Holland Township Crash After Pontiac Sedan Turns Into Traffic

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (DDN) – A woman, 78 years old, has passed away after a crash that occurred on Wednesday morning in Holland Township.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO), the incident occurred before 11:15 a.m. at a location close to the intersection of 112th Avenue and Riley Street.

An 86-year-old man from Holland and his 78-year-old passenger were driving west in a Pontiac sedan when the car turned left into 112th Avenue and collided with a Ford SUV, according to reports.

Deputies said the traffic light was green for the east- and westbound lanes.

According to the OCSO, the 78-year-old was brought to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Officials clarified that part of the intersection was closed while the investigation and cleanup were taking place. The intersection is open for use currently.

The inquiry into the crash is still ongoing.
