ATLANTA – Atlanta police have located an 8-year-old girl who was reported missing and have taken her mother into custody on a child cruelty charge.
The missing child, Samaunee Mosley, was the subject of a “critical missing” alert issued on Monday. According to investigators, Samaunee was last known to be with her mother, 30-year-old Tychena Mosley, who had reportedly been experiencing a “mental episode” related to her diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Family members and officers were able to contact Tychena by phone, but police say she appeared “confused, delusional, and paranoid” during the conversation. Samaunee could reportedly be heard crying in the background.
After a coordinated search, police located Samaunee in Riverdale. Officials confirmed that she appeared to be unharmed.
Tychena Mosley was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to children.
This case highlights the importance of prompt action and collaboration in locating missing children. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
