88-Year-Old North Port Man Charged with Murder After Wife’s Death Ruled a Homicide, Not Suicide

NORTH PORT, Fla. (DDN) – A North Port man was charged with killing his wife and making the crime scene appear to be a suicide.

Police were dispatched to Halladay Street at 3 a.m. for a reported self-inflicted death.

“However, following a thorough investigation, in conjunction with the District 12 Medical Examiner’s Office, it was determined that the victim’s death was not the result of a self-inflicted injury, and elements of the scene had been staged by the suspect,” police said on social media.

Police detained Miroslav Maksic, 88, in connection with the death of his wife Miljkka Maksic, 76. He was charged with homicide.
