- Some other race alone*
- Two or more races*
The specific column we were interested in was the count of individuals who identified themselves as Black or African American. We focused our analysis on cities in Tennessee that have a population of more than 5,000 people, excluding CDPs. We were left with 93 cities.
Next, we determined the proportion of residents who identify as Black or African American. The percentages range from 68.0% to 0.2%.
Finally, we determined the ranking of each city by considering the percentage of the Black population. A higher score indicates a higher proportion of Black residents, while a lower score indicates a lower proportion. Brownsville was found to have the highest population of Black residents, while Church Hill had the lowest number of African American residents.
