Federal Court Sentences Indiana Resident to more than Eight Years for Fentanyl Sales

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Jarrell Knight, 38, from Indiana, was sentenced on June 20 to more than eight years in federal prison for distributing over 40 grams of fentanyl. Knight pleaded guilty to the charge on March 26.

In March 2023, Knight sold two ounces of fentanyl to an individual in Beloit while under police surveillance. The transaction was recorded, and the substance was confirmed as fentanyl. Knight was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2023 and subsequently arrested in Indiana.

Knight committed this offense while under federal supervision for a prior drug trafficking conviction. As a result, the judge added another 18 months to his sentence, to be served consecutively.

The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Rock County Sheriff’s Office, highlighting law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat fentanyl distribution. This potent synthetic opioid is significantly more powerful than heroin and morphine, posing severe risks to public health and safety.
