Teen Threat Shakes Monroe County Security Tightened Ahead of Homecoming

After a 15-year-old boy allegedly threatened a Monroe County school with a pistol, there was more security during the school’s homecoming dance. The investigation is still underway.

Just before 7 p.m. on Saturday, according to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, the county’s central dispatch was alerted to a potential threat directed against Bedford High School.

Sheriff’s deputies responded by going to the school to look into the matter and make sure the students attending the dance were safe.

Michigan State Police troopers helped sheriff’s officers with school security. The sheriff claims that nothing affected the dance.

A 15-year-old teenager in Toledo, Ohio, is credited by the authorities for making the threat. When the youngster was found at his Toledo home, his parents were contacted.

The sheriff claims that an isolated incident involving a fight with an ex-girlfriend appears to be the source of the threat.
