Historic Charm Awaits 1697 Connecticut Saltbox Home for Only $75,000!

Have you ever desired to own a home that predates the Constitution? There is one available in Connecticut at the moment, and it’s an affordable house.

A 1697 saltbox house in South Windsor that is for sale was recently featured on the “Cheap Old Houses” Instagram page, which served as the inspiration for the HGTV program “Who’s Afraid of a Cheap Old House.”

The moniker “saltbox house” refers to a type of colonial New England building that resembles a wooden box with a lid that was previously used to store salt.

“It would be a dang shame to see a house that is over three centuries old fall victim to shortsighted demolition, for the sake of a new build that likely won’t last 50 years,” the post stated. “Houses this special NEVER come around.”
