Scott County Sheriff’s Office Hosts 8th Annual Greeting Card Design Contest for Kids

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has opened submissions for its 8th Annual Greeting Card Design Contest. Announced by the Sheriff’s Office, the contest is aimed at kids 12 and under and seeks to foster a collaborative spirit between the community’s youngest members and their police force.

Each participant is encouraged to submit a winter-themed drawing that incorporates elements signifying the Sheriff’s Office, such as deputies, K-9 units, or the department’s star badge. Sheriff Luke Hennen expressed enthusiasm for the entries, anticipating how the talented young artists depict the spirit of their community and the important role they play within it. With an invitation extended to parents and teachers to integrate the contest into classroom activities or group projects, the initiative aims to open dialogue about the roles of first responders while exercising the kids’ creativity.

Submissions for the contest are due by November 18, 2024, and can be mailed or delivered to the Sheriff’s Office in Shakopee. The competition, structured across three age categories, will reward winners with a $15 gift card, a metal travel mug, a badge pin, and other items. Along with these prizes, winners will also receive the honor of having their artwork serve as the official holiday greeting card for the agency, as described on the Sheriff’s Office website.

For further details or assistance, interested parties are directed to reach out to Sarah Deppe, Communications and Office Coordinator, via email or phone. As the contest entries begin to arrive, carrying crayon and pencil renderings of the winter activities with deputies, the winner will enjoy their artwork broadcasted across the Sheriff’s Office social media platforms and formally acknowledged in an official press release, as well as the personal prize delivery by a deputy.
