Two Fatal Police-Involved Shootings Rock Phoenix Within 12 Hours

Phoenix has been the site of two separate shooting incidents involving police officers within a brief 12-hour window. The first, as reported by ABC15, occurred late Monday night after Phoenix police received a call about an attempted home invasion near 19th and Southern Avenues. The suspect, later described as being armed with handguns, allegedly attempted to forcefully enter a home around 10:00 P.M.

A description of the suspect’s vehicle was provided, and officers soon located a car matching that description. The driver, however, did not stop to immediately comply with the officers, engaging in a brief pursuit with the police. It was during this chase that the driver crashed into a retaining wall and, upon exiting the vehicle brandishing firearms, was fatally shot by the police.

Investigators recovered two handguns from the scene of the incident, and no police officers were reported injured, according to Phoenix Police statements on social media platform X. This event precedes another, subsequent officer-involved shooting that took place early Tuesday morning, as noted by FOX 10 Phoenix. No officers were injured in this latter encounter, which happened near 3rd Street and Clarendon Avenue. The suspect involved in this encounter is also deceased.

The investigation into both shootings is still ongoing, with further details expected as they become available.
