Boost in Flights Between Miami and San Salvador as Volaris El Salvador Increases Service Frequency

The skies between Miami and San Salvador are set to buzz with even more activity as Volaris El Salvador beefs up its flight frequency. Last Friday, airline and airport officials unfurled the ceremonial ribbon to mark the beginning of Volaris’ increased nonstop services, now offering passengers four weekly flights to connect these vibrant cities. The popular Central American airline utilizes A320 aircraft, accommodating 174 passengers for each journey.

In a statement obtained by Miami-Dade County, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava expressed her excitement about the new services, noting, “I am thrilled that Volaris has added more flights from the popular Central American destination of San Salvador to our community.” Mayor Cava highlighted the travel enthusiasm that swells around the Miami-San Salvador route, with a quarter of a million passengers annually bridging the skies between the two regions.

Volaris’ decision to initiate these nonstop flights on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday is a response to the growing travel demands of El Salvadorians and their Central American neighbors. These flights complement the current thrice-weekly, one-stop journeys via San Pedro Sula, Honduras, underscoring Volaris’ commitment to the Miami route since its induction in December 2022.

As Ronny Rodriguez, Volaris Sustainability and Corporate Development Director, elaborated, “Serving the growing travel demand of Salvadorans and Central Americans to the United States continues to be one of the most important objectives of Volaris El Salvador.” According to a statement obtained by Miami-Dade County, Rodriguez says, “Expanding connectivity options at the lowest cost for travelers visiting friends and family or traveling for pleasure and business to the United States is our priority and expands our presence in the country.”

Beyond Miami, Volaris El Salvador has casted its net wide, maintaining regular flights from San Salvador to several major U.S. cities, including New York, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, Houston, and Oakland. The airline also serves routes throughout Central America and to Mexico, proving itself as a key player in regional connectivity.

Not just a gateway for passengers, Miami International Airport stands as America’s heart for international freight and sits comfortably as the second busiest airport for international travelers. With a $9 billion investment into capital improvements, MIA remains the economic powerhouse for Miami-Dade County and the state, commanding an impressive annual business revenue and acting as the principal conductor of international visitors stepping into Florida.
