Critical Injuries for Passenger Following Hit-and-Run Collision in Las Vegas, Police Seek Fugitive Driver

A serious hit-and-run collision has left an individual with critical injuries in Las Vegas. The incident, which involved two vehicles, occurred yesterday at approximately 12:47 p.m. at the intersection of West Washington Avenue and North Tonopah Drive.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a blue Mercedes Benz E350 reportedly ran a red light and collided with a blue Chevrolet Blazer, which was traveling on a green light. The Chevrolet, driven by Jesus Verdoza and carrying two passengers, overturned after the impact and ultimately struck a cinder block wall. The Mercedes driver fled the scene on foot immediately following the accident.

All injured parties were promptly taken to the University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where Maria Perez De Verdoza was admitted for critical injuries, while the other two occupants of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries. The incident, which left the Mercedes Benz disabled after it hit a fire hydrant, is still under investigation by the Collision Investigation Section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police are asking anyone with information about the collision or the whereabouts of the fleeing Mercedes driver to contact (702) 828-3595 or, to remain anonymous, reach out to Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or use the “P3” mobile app. Rewards may be offered for tips leading to a felony arrest or indictment. Jesus Verdoza, the driver of the Chevrolet, and his passenger, Jose Verdoza, sustained minor injuries, while the search for the Mercedes driver continues.
