Bronx Subway Station Scene of Armed Incidents: Loaded Firearm Seizure and Machine Gun Arrest at Kingsbridge Road

A tense situation unfolded at a Bronx subway station when a man was arrested after trying to enter a restricted area with a loaded firearm. The incident took place at the Kingsbridge Road subway station along the D line, where the man attempted to breach a prohibited zone to urinate, reported NBC New York. Police responded to the scene whereupon the man threw his bag, containing a gun and a loaded ammo cartridge, and attempted to flee. He was apprehended shortly after by law enforcement.

The same station was the scene of another alarming discovery on the prior day. Two individuals were arrested after law enforcement found a machine gun in their possession. At approximately 3:46 p.m. yesterday, NYPD Public Safety Team officers noticed two men entering a subway tunnel at Kingsbridge Road station’s northbound platform. They encountered 20-year-old Abraham Sosa, reportedly in the act of urinating, which led to an altercation and subsequent arrest, AM New York detailed.

In the ensuing scuffle, one officer’s body camera was dislodged and kicked onto the subway tracks by Sosa’s companion, identified as 21-year-old Christopher Mayren. When both men were finally subdued and handcuffed, police discovered a loaded Palmetto State Armory PA-15 machine gun among their belongings. The officers involved sustained minor injuries during the struggle.

Sosa now faces multiple charges including criminal possession of a machine gun, resisting arrest, and assault on a police officer among others. His accomplice, Mayren, is charged with various offenses, including obstruction of governmental administration and petit larceny, as he allegedly attempted to steal an officer’s cell phone during the tumult.
