While the Bay Area talks expansion, Houston-based Trill Burgers is actually making moves, planning to open two new locations in the suburbs by 2025. Co-owned by Bun B, the smashburger restaurant will expand to Spring and Missouri City, building on its success in Montrose. The Spring location will be at 6810 Louetta Road, and the Missouri City spot will be at Highway 6 and Fort Bend Parkway, near the Fort Bend Town Center II, according to the Eater Houston report.
Trill Burgers, which started as a pop-up in 2021, quickly gained fame when its OG Burger was named the best burger in America by Good Morning America in 2022. The burger joint has since attracted long lines and celebrity fans like Shaquille O’Neal and Drake, as reported by the Houston Chronicle. Most recently, it won the 2023 Gold Buckle Foodie award at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Its signature blend of caramelized onions, house-made pickles, special sauce, and a perfectly toasted potato roll has made it a hit with more than just local Texans.
While Trill Burgers has already been serving its signature smash burgers at notable Houston locales such as NRG Stadium for Houston Texans games and Shell Energy Stadium for Houston Dynamo games, these upcoming brick-and-mortar locations represent the brand’s continued growth and sustained crowd appeal. “We appreciate the continued support from the community and look forward to bringing Trill to the north and southwest sides of Houston,” said Trill Burgers in a statement obtained by KHOU. The Spring location will reportedly take over a former Dairy Queen site, while the Missouri City spot will also include a drive-thru, catering to convenience-seeking burger aficionados.
Trill Burgers opened its Montrose location at 3607 S. Shepherd Dr. in June 2023, quickly becoming a standout in Houston’s food scene. The spot has drawn crowds thanks to its quality food and the brand’s successful mix of pop culture and culinary skill. With Texas’ love for burgers, Trill Burgers is making all the right moves to meet that demand. While expansions are usually a big deal, for Trill Burgers—already a star in its own right—it’s just another day at the office.
