Today, an injured individual needed urgent assistance on Montara Mountain in San Mateo County. The California Highway Patrol’s Golden Gate Division Air Operations stepped in to facilitate a high-flying rescue operation. In collaboration with CAL FIRE San Mateo – Santa Cruz Units and San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services, the CHP conducted a hoist rescue to safely extract the patient who had suffered an isolated extremity injury.

Details of the complex rescue effort were posted on CHP – Golden Gate Division’s social media, which noted that the division’s helicopter H-30 was deployed to the scene. After the flight paramedic was inserted onto the mountain to provide immediate care, the injured party was packaged and prepped for air transport.

Following the successful hoist operation, CHP’s H-30 transported the patient through the skies to Half Moon Bay Airport. There, an ambulance provided by San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services awaited to continue the journey to medical facilities, where the individual could receive more extensive treatment and begin their recovery.
