RTC of Southern Nevada Salutes Veterans with Free Transit Rides on Veterans Day

In a move to honor those who have served, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is offering a complimentary transportation gesture to veterans and active military members this Veterans Day. According to a report by News 3 LV, showing a military or veterans identification card upon boarding RTC buses on Monday, November 11, will grant free transit rides across all routes, maintaining regular weekday schedules.

This initiative aligns with several RTC transit programs specifically catering to the needs of veterans and active service members in the area. MJ Maynard, the RTC CEO, expressed the organization’s motive: “We are proud to honor our brave military members throughout Southern Nevada with just a small token of our appreciation.” As such, the RTC community stands united in their gratitude towards those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the nation, as reported by the RTC’s official news release.

The Veterans Day celebrations are also set to include one of the nation’s largest parades in downtown Las Vegas. The annual event which begins at 10 a.m. and concludes at noon, will feature a march along Fourth St. between Gass Ave. and Stewart Ave., easily accessible from various RTC transit routes, as mentioned by News 3 LV.

Moreover, beyond the once-a-year complimentary rides, RTC’s ongoing support programs for those who have served the country include the ‘Veterans Reduced Fare Program’, ‘Veterans Medical Transportation Network’ (VMTN), and the ‘Downtown & Veterans Medical Center Express’ (DVX), which provides direct access to the VA Medical Center from the Bonneville Transit Center. Detailed information on all these programs tailored to ease the lives of veterans can be found on the RTC’s Veterans Services webpage.
