Elrich highlighted the dual purpose of this campaign, stating, “Operation Green Light is an opportunity to lift up our veterans and recognize the sacrifices they made so that we all may live in freedom.” He further emphasized the importance of raising awareness for veterans’ post-service issues and the availability of resources, as is mentioned in the

official announcement.

The bus, with its American flag design and a neon sign for visibility at night, puts a spotlight on the county’s veteran-related resources, which can be accessed through the Montgomery County Commission on Veterans Affairs website and resource line displayed on the bus’s back. Attending the unveiling event were Vice President of the County Council Kate Stewart, Councilmembers Will Jawando, Sidney Katz, and Dawn Luedtke, who, along with community leaders, traveled on the thematic bus’s first trip that culminated at Montgomery County’s Memorial Plaza.

The campaign does not just end with a bus ride, as all Ride On buses will carry informational cards featuring QR codes and a telephone number to funnel veterans towards the assistance they might seek. These services can be reached by calling Serving Together at 855-738-7176 or by visiting the Commission on Veterans Affairs website. To track the special bus’ route, residents can follow @MCDOTNow on social media platforms and are encouraged to share their snapshots with the #OperationGreenLight hashtag in an act of support for those who have served.
