As the holiday spirit begins to envelop Detroit, the city gears up for its festive seasonal centerpiece with the arrival of a 66-foot Norway spruce. In what has become a cherished annual tradition, the tree’s installment precedes the 21st Detroit Tree Lighting ceremony slated at Campus Martius Park on Nov. 22, catching the city in a whirlwind of anticipation.
According to
CBS News Detroit
, the towering spruce traveled all the way from Manton, Michigan, ready to be adorned with 25,000 LED lights by a 10-person crew over the next two weeks. Adding a new twist to this year’s celebration, the Downtown Detroit Partnership has in store a novel attraction named Chalet 313, promising bar services, light appetizers, and an exclusive view of the tree, Laura Dean, director of Parks and Public Spaces, touted the new feature, saying, “You will basically be able to go into the structure, go upstairs, and then look into the tree.”
Come the evening of the lighting, the broadcast “Light Up the Season” will showcase the event on WXYZ-TV. Besides the spruce taking center stage, the festive occasion will play host to a medley of performers such as Alex Sampson, Southern Avenue, and Thornetta Davis, with skating performances highlighted by the Canadian phenom Elladj Baldé, as

reported. Following the event’s fanfare, the adjacent ice rink is set to open, welcoming the 2024-2025 skating season.
While attendees revel in the festivities, a myriad of culinary delights awaits, from spiked hot cocoa to non-alcoholic beverages, alongside a scrumptious range of food trucks and even 4,000 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, up for grabs courtesy of Andiamo and other vendors, as per

. Not to be outdone, previous fan favorites such as the Downtown Detroit markets and Cadillac Lodge will make their return, ensuring a feast for all senses.
Seasonal commemorations at Campus Martius don’t end with Christmas festivities; plans for lighting a Menorah and Kwanzaa Kinara will also be part of Detroit’s seasonal itinerary, with details forthcoming. The holiday activities, as
