DeKalb County is set to honor Veterans Day with a slight twist to its residential sanitation collection schedule. As a nod to the holiday, which pays homage to military veterans, there will be no garbage, recycling, or yard trimmings collection services on Monday, Nov. 11, affirming
DeKalb County’s
announcement.
Adjustments mean residential customers slated for Monday pick-ups will now have their sanitation collected on Tuesday, Nov. 12, while those with a regular Tuesday service will need to wait an extra day until Wednesday, Nov. 13, setting in motion a domino effect leading to Thursday and Friday service delays as well, as noted by the modified timetable laid out by the county’s sanitation division.
The North Transfer Station, often bustling with the comings and goings of local waste, will maintain operations from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Veterans Day. However, after paying respect to the holiday, it, alongside the customer care call center and other key sanitation facilities, will resume regular hours on Tuesday; this ensuring residents can get back to their routine waste management needs with minimal disruption.
