The Department of Adult Correction has appointed Annette Stubblefield as the new warden of Dan River Prison Work Farm.. Carrying over three decades of correctional experience, Stubblefield steps into her new role with a deep understanding of the facility’s operations, having served as its associate warden of custody and operations since 2020, as reported by the
North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
Adult Correction Secretary Todd Ishee expressed his confidence in Stubblefield’s leadership abilities, stating, “Warden Stubblefield has 30 years of experience, mostly at our Dan River facility. Not only does she know that operation inside and out, but she also knows what it takes to be a successful correctional administrator and leader. She will be a fine warden,” according to an announcement obtained by the
Department of Adult Correction
. Stubblefield’s responsibilities will encompass overseeing all aspects of the Dan River PWF, situated outside Yanceyville in Caswell County.
The Dan River Prison Work Farm is known for its rehabilitative approach, where offenders participate in growing produce for various NCDAC facilities statewide. The institution’s partnership with Piedmont Community College facilitates various educational and vocational programs for the inmates, including high school equivalency, forklift operation, horticulture, and landscaping courses, aiding their reintegration back into society.
Stubblefield’s corrections career commenced in 1994 as a correctional officer at Blanch Correctional Institution before it shuttered in 1999. Following this, she was transferred to nearby Dan River PWF, marking a series of promotions that eventually led to her current warden appointment. Her qualifications include an Advanced Certificate in Criminal Justice from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Division.
