, authorities shared details surrounding a battery that has also been classified as a hate crime. This attack transpired within the 18th (Near North) District and now, detectives from the Area Three Division are on the hunt for two individuals believed to be linked to this crime.

Details provided state that an altercation took place on the 2300 block of N. Sheffield Ave., where a victim was subjected to a barrage of anti-Semitic remarks. Shortly after, the assailant proceeded to physically assault the victim. The assault, cloaked in the vitriol of prejudice, not only left physical harm but echoes the persistent drum of hatred resonating through communities in our era.

Authorities are looking for two male suspects, both estimated to be around 20 years old. Offender #1 is described to have a full beard and dark hair with the sides shaved, measuring between 5’08” and 5’11” in height and between 150 and 170 pounds in weight. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black pants, and black shoes. The second suspect covered his face with a black balaclava, wore a white t-shirt, and khaki pants, is approximately 5’10” to 6’00” tall, and weighs in the same range as his accomplice.

With the suspects at large, the CPD urges the community at large to maintain vigilance. “Always be aware of your surroundings,” they advise and encourage anyone who has information or notices suspicious activity to dial 9-1-1 immediately.
