The Denver metro area, among other locations, is forecasted to receive an additional 8 to 16 inches of snow from today through Saturday, that high-end totals expected over the Palmer Divide and the Southern Front Range Foothills. The NWS urges residents if travel is necessary, to carry a winter storm kit, including tire chains, a shovel, and emergency supplies.

The hazardous weather outlook also alludes to more than just the immediate snowfall. It warns that Snow will end on the plains by midday Saturday, with light showers lingering in the mountains into Saturday night. Furthermore, a period of windy conditions is anticipated over the Front Range mountains and foothills on Saturday night, with wind gusts potentially reaching 40 to 60 mph.

Looking ahead to the following week, the forecast anticipates a possible return of snow around Tuesday or Wednesday with light snow possible in the mountains, and a slight chance of brief showers on the plains.
