South LA Man Sentenced to Over 9 Years for Robbery Spree and Freeway Chase

A South Los Angeles man received a sentence of over nine years in federal prison following a series of robberies culminating in a high-speed chase and a dangerous freeway foot pursuit. Anthony Flores, 28, also known as “BabyGfar,” was ordered to serve 110 months behind bars, as stated by United States District Judge Hernán D. Vera, according to the

. Alongside his prison term, Flores has been mandated to pay $10,439 in restitution.

Following a three-day trial that concluded on July 18, Flores was found guilty of one count of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery (Hobbs Act) and two counts of Hobbs Act robbery. The trial unearthed a spree of heists across Los Angeles County businesses, where Flores and his accomplices forcibly took high-end liquor and, at times, bluntly threatened staff with violence. These crimes, stretching from May 27 to May 31, were put to an end only to abruptly resume again on June 5, 2023, when Flores endeavored to unsuccessfully rob another store, leading cops on a chase that eventually turned into a dangerous run across the freeway.

The sentencing reflects the weight of Flores’ actions, implications reiterated by United States Attorney Martin Estrada. “This defendant’s careless disregard for the law put lives at risk,” Estrada said. “Today’s sentence highlights that my office – through the Operation Safe Cities initiative – will make sure that violent criminals face real consequences. The public deserves no less,” as stated by the

Flores’s own thread in this tapestry, involving thefts totaling approximately $14,143 in merchandise, ended when he and his cohort Ivin Kitu Sanford, 32, were apprehended following their escape attempt on foot after failing to evade the law in a stolen Dodge Charger. Sanford awaits sentencing, set for January 30, 2025, as he found guilty of one count of Hobbs Act robbery conspiracy during the same trial as Flores. He faces a maximum of 20 years in the federal penitentiary, as reported by the
