Board of Supervisors, emphasized the benefits of hiking, saying, “Hiking offers us a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, breathe fresh air, and enjoy the beauty of our natural Sonoran Desert landscapes.”
Jennifer Waller, Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Director, welcomed cooler temperatures that make hiking more comfortable. “After months of telling park visitors to hike during the early morning or evening hours to avoid the heat, we can now say, take a hike!” she said. With over 615 miles of trails for hiking, running, biking, and horseback riding, visitors are encouraged to explore the outdoors and join the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, according to the
