Clackamas County Maintains Precision in Ballot Count with Over 200,000 Votes Tallied Post-Election Day

Clackamas County is holding the line on efficiency and accuracy as it continues to process the ballots from the November 5, 2024, General Election. According to

Clackamas County’s latest update

, the unofficial election results as of Thursday afternoon included a tally of more than 200,000 votes. The next round of ballot results is expected today.

Entering the final stretch, the voter turnout has hit an impressive 78.2%, with the Nov. 7 count capturing ballots received by the end of Election Day, and through the mail until Thursday. Although the main rush is over, Clackamas County Elections will still process valid ballots that make their way through USPS, up until November 12. Moreover, voters who need to remedy signature issues have until November 26, a 21-day grace period, to ensure that their vote counts.

The rigorous pace of the ballot processing operation has shifted gears as the bulk of early ballots have been counted. The slower pace, now, is largely due to the meticulous work required for ballots that need manual acceptance, additional signature verification, or are otherwise exceptional cases such as those from military and overseas voters. Clackamas County Clerk Catherine McMullen is leading a sworn team, extending their work hours to manage this crucial stage of the process. The team wrapped up Thursday with around 49,000 ballots still to count, according to the county’s report.

The counting team is not the only group keeping long hours; McMullen will give the last of her daily media briefings at 2 p.m. today via Zoom. Media representatives interested in attending this briefing can register by reaching out to the provided email,
