Hillsborough County Offices Closed for Veterans Day, Solid Waste Services Unaffected

Hillsborough County has announced a closure of its offices and most facilities in observance of Veterans Day, however, the solid waste services will run per the usual schedule. According to a

Hillsborough County statement released

, the holiday on Monday will see a pause in various government operations. These closures include administrative offices, the county’s customer service center, libraries within the public library cooperative, and recreation centers.

Despite most daily activities stopping, trash collection will continue as usual. Residents in unincorporated areas like Tampa Palms, Hunter’s Green, and New Tampa will see no changes to their garbage, recycling, or yard waste schedules. For those needing to dispose of large items, curbside collection for storm debris, appliances, and construction waste will also continue, according to the

Hillsborough County website.

Some key services will take a day off, as the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center and Social Services offices will be closed to the public. Essential emergency calls can be directed to the Water Resources Customer Service Center at (813) 744-5600, for any urgent water and wastewater service issues. Meanwhile, those reliant on the Sunshine Line transportation service will need to find alternative arrangements for the day.

The county’s Consumer and Veterans Services, along with the Veterans Council of Hillsborough County, will host the 60th Annual Veterans Day Tribute. The ceremony will honor the armed forces at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins, Jr. Veterans Museum, making the day even more meaningful for the community.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the county’s parks, including dog parks, skate parks, nature preserves, trails, splash pads, and boat ramps, which will remain open, except for those affected by Hurricane Milton. All disposal facilities, like landfills and transfer stations, will operate as usual. While county offices may be closed for the day, essential services will continue without interruption.
