. The tumult began at around 2:30 a.m. yesterday when the sheriff’s office was alerted to a series of commercial burglaries and an auto theft, the arrest didn’t materialize until some critical hours later when a stolen vehicle was tracked by its owner leading the officials right to the suspect.

The chase, involving multiple law enforcement teams, saw Smith push the stolen car into a ditch near Arapahoe Ridge High School prompting the school to be momentarily sealed off he then fled on foot until law enforcement closed in on him at around the 6300 block of Arapahoe Road where he remained uncooperative, and necessitating the use of a conductive energy device to facilitate his arrest, this chase spanned several jurisdictions and also drew in support from the Boulder Police Department, Lafayette Police Department, and Longmont Public Safety.

Smith now faces over 30 charges with the possibility of even more as investigations continue to unveil his connection to other similar offenses in neighboring areas, the significant charges include three counts of 2nd Degree Burglary, four counts of 2nd Degree Motor Vehicle Theft, two counts of Vehicular Eluding and other charges related to theft, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest, according to the detailed listing by the sheriff’s office.
