Weston, Florida, played host yesterday to more than 500 veterans, city officials, and community leaders who came together for the annual Veterans Day event organized by the YMCA of South Florida and the City of Weston. The celebration took place at the Bonaventure Town Center Club, where attendees were invited to a valorizing breakfast in recognition of their service to the nation.
In a keynote address that sought to firmly remind the audience of their enduring duty to nation and community, Special Forces Officer Mark Nutsch delivered a message that resonated with the gathered. “We’ll touch on veterans, on how we continue to serve, and after we’re no longer in uniform, and everyone serves, even those not in unform, you serve your community, your family, your co-workers, whatever that may be,” Nutsch shared in a statement obtained by

. He further expressed the honor he feels in being able to represent his veteran community.
The YMCA also took to Instagram to promote the event in advance, touting the presence of Mark Nutsch, whom they referred to as a “real-life hero” depicted in the war drama “12 Strong.” Offering complimentary breakfast and an inspiring keynote, they extended an invitation to all veterans, as posted on their
