San Diego Community Shaken by Fatal Pedestrian Collision with Tesla on Mira Mesa Boulevard

In a tragic event on Mira Mesa Boulevard, a deadly collision occurred between a pedestrian and a 2023 Tesla, as reported by the

San Diego Police Department

. The incident occurred early at 1:52 AM when a 31-year-old male driver headed west on the boulevard. According to Officer D. O’Brien, the watch commander, a 29-year-old male attempted to cross at the intersection of Mira Mesa Bl and Westmore Rd against a red light and was fatally struck by the vehicle.

The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division has taken charge of the ongoing investigation. In a statement obtained by the official SDPD Watch Commander’s Log, alcohol was not a factor in a collision. The authorities are urging anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the listed Command or to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

With investigations underway, the role of advanced automotive technologies in safety and the responsibilities of both drivers and pedestrians remain under scrutiny. Although Tesla vehicles are equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems, such technologies do not negate the need for vigilance on the roads.
