The police pursuit was initiated to allegedly apprehend the suspects after they failed to obey a traffic stop. The vehicle, which was reportedly being operated recklessly, was disabled upon impact after the crash. The 13-year-old was apprehended after attempting to quickly flee on foot from the scene, facing charges of theft of property and evading arrest. According to a statement obtained by

, Beamon shared insights about the systemic issues that may serve to gravitate youth towards crime, saying, “The kids don’t think about it even when the parents are telling them no. They are still looking at the attraction of what their friends are getting and they’re getting away with it.” He also highlighted the dilemma faced by some parents in these communities, regarding complicity or tough love, when they discover their children’s involvement in crimes such as car theft. Records obtained by officials reveal that Jackson was already a repeat offender, connecting him to similar crimes prior to the latest charges he faces now.
