A tragic hit-and-run accident in southwest Miami-Dade killed 46-year-old Alexis Muñoz. As reported by

, the incident took place yesterday morning near where Muñoz was employed, Costa Farms Color Division. Muñoz met his untimely demise while riding his scooter after being struck by a driver who subsequently fled the scene. The collision occurred around 6 a.m. along Southwest 194th Avenue and 208th Street. Adding to the chaotic scene, the vehicle involved was discovered crashed into the property at Southwest 232nd Street, the driver having abandoned the damaged vehicle to escape on foot.

Miami-Dade Police are actively seeking the driver of the silver pickup truck, which was seen towing a flatbed trailer. With the driver continuing to evade accountability for 24 blocks after the collision before crashing into a fence and plants at a farm, officials remained determined to render justice. , a spokeswoman for Costa Farms, Mari Carrasquillo, offered the company’s condolences, saying, “This is an active investigation and we are not sharing information. We want to respect the privacy of the family. We are deeply saddened at the loss of one of our own.” Along with evading the crash’s aftermath, detectives have yet to determine whether the driver acted alone or why the scene did not remain after the initial impact.

Muñoz was reportedly driving his wife to their farm when the accident occurred. Authorities are confident an arrest will be made soon and are asking the public for help. A BOLO, or be-on-the-lookout bulletin, has been issued in hopes of the perpetrator being identified. Community members and witnesses who might hold even the slightest shard of evidence or knowledge of the driver’s whereabouts are encouraged to step forward.
