Wilmington Man, Tyshaun Blue, Charged in Connection with October Shooting at 7th and Monroe

Wilmington authorities have reported the arrest of Tyshaun Blue, age 24, linking him to a shooting that took place early last month. The incident which occurred on October 3, around 6:44 p.m., at the intersection of West 7th and North Monroe Streets, left a 19-year-old man with gunshot injuries. According to

Wilmington Police Department

, police responded swiftly and the victim was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

Detective Kevin Nolan of the

Wilmington Police Department

Criminal Investigations Division spearheaded the inquiry, with support from the Gun Intelligence Unit. Their investigation pointed to Blue as a suspect, who, it turned out, was also wanted on an unrelated charge. Last Wednesday, police executed a search gone warrant in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street and apprehended Blue without incident. They also recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the arrest.

Blue now faces numerous charges including first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, discharging a firearm on a city street, and criminal mischief under $1,000. He has been arraigned and is currently being held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $165,000 cash-only.

This incident and its ensuing legal process underscore Wilmington’s ongoing struggle with gun-related crimes. Amidst these legal proceedings, the community is left to grapple with the ripple effects of violence, as a young man recovers and another faces the weight of the law. Information regarding Blue’s court appearances, or any additional updates to this case, have yet to be released.
