A fatal crash that occurred Sunday morning on the Eastex Freeway has led to the arrest of 31-year-old Rene M. Guzman-Santos, who is now facing charges for murder and intoxicated assault. According to a report provided by the

, the collision happened at 15800 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. Highway 59) around 3 a.m. Guzman-Santos, currently hospitalized, is to be booked into the Harris County Jail once discharged from the medical facility.
The crash claimed the life of 40-year-old Jennifer Rosales, who was identified as the deceased female victim. “The victim was driving a white GMC Acadia northbound on the freeway at the above address when her vehicle was struck by a brown Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling the wrong way (southbound) in the northbound lanes,” stated the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer F. Flynn in a report by the

. The pronounced Rosales deceased at the scene, while Guzman-Santos and two juvenile passengers, a male, 13 and a female, 6, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
